Unseen adult

In unseen adult, Tatjana Hub withdraws the face and leaves us facing surfaces that hesitate: painted glass masks, suspended in a kind of ownerless gesture. The clown's smile, traced onto a transparent support, asserts nothing; rather, it fluctuates, as if searching for a body that never quite arrives. What happens when expression separates from whoever holds it? What remains of a gesture once it no longer guarantees a face? The videos and photographs continue that separation. We see bodies in fragments: legs that wait, interrupted steps, arms at rest, objects that receive weight or light without justifying their presence. There is no complete figure, only small persistences that hold themselves up on their own. The work invites us to look without needing to close the image, to accept that presence is sometimes better felt in what remains outside the frame. In that interval, between what is shown and what is missing, the work opens a space to think about how we appear, how we read one another, and which parts of ourselves we prefer to keep at the margins. Tatjana Hub lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. After working as a photo editor and studying photographic design in Munich, she has been studying photography at the Academia de Bellas Artes de Leipzig since 2019. In addition to her artistic practice, she is co-founder and president of the off-space PLAST in Leipzig and will soon be opening a bar. Since 2022 she has been a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Her work has been shown at venues such as HEIT (Berlin), Schloss Neuhardenberg, Werkschauhalle and the f/stop Photo Festival (Leipzig), Häselburg (Gera), and DIA Artspace Gallery (Munich).
