Desde un prado lejano

María Enríquez

2026

Curaduría: Marco Valtierra y Diego González Gómez

Through porcelain, María Enríquez shifts elements of the organic—flowers, petals, sprouts—toward a state of permanence. The ephemeral becomes fixed in a material historically linked to delicacy, ornament, and conservation. The installation thus moves between persistence and disappearance, between the desire to preserve and the inescapable awareness of loss. The meadow here appears as a liminal space where plant forms refer both to a natural environment and to a state of matter that has been intervened upon, reorganized, arrested in its transformation. What could once be understood as growth or blooming here becomes a condition of suspension: something that has been separated from its continuity with its surroundings and that remains in a kind of physical threshold, never fully consolidating nor fully vanishing. In that displacement, the installation constructs a perceptual experience marked by slowness and suspension, where time seems to expand. Porcelain then operates as a surface of temporal inscription where fragility and duration coexist without ever resolving. The installation proposes inhabiting that peculiar condition: that unstable instant in which a memory still persists before beginning to fade. María Enríquez is a visual artist, a graduate of ENPEG La Esmeralda, and holds a maestría in Artes Visuales from UNAM. Her practice focuses on the analysis of the everyday object and its relationship with the user, problematizing the affective and symbolic bonds that shape the construction of identity. She has received the beca Jóvenes Creadores PECDA Morelos (2024), won the acquisition prize at the XLVI Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven (2026), and was awarded third place in the contemporary ceramics category at the Bienal de Pintura, Grabado y Cerámica Contemporánea Alfredo Zalce (2024). Her work has been selected for the 5ª Bienal de Pintura, Dibujo y Gráfica Arte Lumen (2023), the Bienal de Pintura y Grabado Alfredo Zalce (2022 and 2024), and the Trienal de Tijuana: I Internacional Pictórica (2021). Her work has been exhibited collectively at the Museo de Arte de Zapopan (2025), Museo Alfredo Zalce (2024 and 2022), Museo de la Ciudad de México (2023), Centro Cultural El Rule (2023), ACHE GALERIA (2023), Espacio Cabeza (2022), Galería Compás 88 (2022), La Quiñonera (2022), Teatro Fernando Calderón (2020), Centro Nacional de las Artes (2019), Galería Luciana Cabarga (2019), Foto Museo Cuatro Caminos (2018), among other venues. Since 2021, she has co-run Proyecto E.M.E, a platform dedicated to the visibility, promotion, and creation of opportunities for emerging artists. This exhibition was carried out with the support of the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC), through its 2025 Call for Curatorial Projects.
